About Dr. Venarde

Dr. Venarde has more than twenty years of clinical experience in a range of settings, including independent practice, hospitals, community mental health centers, and university mental health services. In full-time independent practice since 2011, Dr. Venarde also worked in university mental health for well over a decade, including ten years at NYU’s Counseling and Wellness Services, where he served as Associate Director and Deputy Director of Counseling and Wellness Services, in addition to supervising the substance abuse team and psychology fellowship program.

Dr. Venarde received his B.A. from Yale University, magna cum laude, with distinction in his major of history. He received his masters and doctorate in clinical psychology from the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology at Rutgers University. He completed his psychology internship at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York and his fellowship in psychology at Columbia University’s Counseling and Psychological Services.

Dr. Venarde specializes in the treatment of substance use issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship and family concerns. As a couple therapist trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), he also works with couples coping with a range of relationship stresses.
